BWF wrestling show to be held at the fair in Farmville

Bruiser Wrestling Federation will hold a show on Saturday, October 1, at the Five County Fair in Farmville. The show featuring wrestling legend Ricky Morton (of the Rock n Roll Express) will kick off at 8 p.m. at the Varner Building. BWF shows are always a good, clean, family friendly event that’s sure to delight the kids. The fairgrounds is located at Hwy. 15 & 460 business west in Farmville. Taste of Brunswick Festival set for October 8 By Debra Ferrell Southside Virginia Community College in Alberta, Brunswick County VA will host the 20th Annual Taste of Brunswick Festival on Saturday, Oct. 8, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. This is a rain or shine event with free parking and free admission. Come prepared for a full day of fun for the whole family. The event features a Brunswick stew cook-off, with $1,500 in prizes. There will also be art exhibits, craft vendors, antique car and tractor show, horse exhibition, pony rides, barrel train ride, face painting, food vendors, beach music, karoke, bluegrass bands, gospel music, stage coach rides, bull riding, petting zoo, Civil War reenactments and more! Exotic looking plants are thriving in Naruna couple’s garden

Alma Hamlette of Gladys is tickled with how well her canna plant has grown since being planted back in May. The flower was about 10” when uprooted by her sister Mary Hines Parker of Nathalie. Now it stands over five feet tall and sports this brilliant red flower. Some small buds are appearing along the base of the flower so she is hopeful more blooms will come.
