Ashard Araelius Adams, 31, and Antonio Montez Waller, 27, will be going on to face charges in the death of 54-year-old Brookneal man Orlando Mitchell Robey. Campbell County General District Court Judge Stephanie Maddox ruled on Tuesday that there is sufficient evidence to send the case to the grand jury which convenes on July 8.
Adams is facing second degree murder and Waller is charged with attempted malicious wounding. Both are charged with use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
Police were called to 470 Hat Creek Road outside of Brookneal on April 13. Testimony shows the two suspects were arguing with Robey allegedly over a dog on that night. They say Robey followed them to their vehicle when they were leaving after he had retrieved a handgun from the basement.
When Robey went back in the house, gunshots were fired at him through a window. Multiple bullet holes were found in the residence with a .22 magnum revolver laying underneath Robey’s body.
The medical examiner says he died of a single shot to the head. Both men admit to being involved.
They were the sons of Robey’s girlfriend and living there at the time.
