Senior asks for donations for new hearing aid
Senior Virginia Stevens of Gretna, nicknamed the “Walking Lady” since she walked all over downtown Gretna on her walker until health issues curtailed her travels, is asking for donations to help pay for a desperately needed hearing aid. She has donation jars at Gretna Drug Store, Food Lion and Western Auto in Gretna.
“I have my new hearing aid, but have to pay for it and I’m on a limited income,” she says. “I have paid $1,000, but still owe $3,600. I hope I can get some help from the Gretna Lions Club too.”
She will be having surgery on October 17 to help alleviate numbness in her right hand. The same surgery on her left hand proved to be effective so she hopes this will be too.
