Brookneal Solar, LLC proposes to construct and operate a 60 Megawatt (MW) AC solar facility in Campbell County, Virginia. The project is located directly adjacent to the eastern side of the town of Gladys – east of Brookneal Highway, south of Pigeon Run Rd, south of Bear Creek Rd., and south of the Gladys substation. The project will span 15 parcels of land which total approximately 1,146 acres. The design utilizes approximately 282,000 photovoltaic (PV) solar panels, covering roughly 500 acres of this land (approximately 44%).
The project plans to utilize industry-standard single-axis tracking technology, meaning the solar panels will track the movement of the sun. This system is a simple modular design that repeats often consisting of tracker mounted panels and inverters that convert DC to AC power. Low voltage wiring connects the inverters to the project substation where transformers boost the voltage to get it into the power grid.
To find out more about the project, please attend our open house, which will be held on Monday, October 14, 2019 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the Gladys Community Center - Ruritan Club, 135 Long Island Road, Gladys, VA.
