The Town of Brookneal has purchased a brand-new sanitation vehicle, reported Town Manager Russell Thurston. It replaces the 10-year-old vehicle that has been in use until now; that older truck will be used for backup.
“The town government has a good financial position. We don’t go throwing taxpayers’ money away on frivolous and unnecessary things. That’s what allows us to have the money to purchase a new garbage truck and new police vehicle,” Thurston explained.
There were some coronavirus-related delays in obtaining the truck, but it is now in town. A new police vehicle is still held up with coronavirus delays, but it will hopefully be ready for use this summer.
