Geneva “Juanita” Elder, 80, of Gladys went to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 20, 2019. She was the wife of the late Joseph Thomas Elder.

Juanita was born in Manassas on April 2, 1939, daughter of the late Lillian Annetta Helmandollar Kiser and Robey Greer Kiser.

She is survived by six children, Brenda Cantu (Dan Johnson) of Durham, N.C., Susan Stanley (James) of Burke, Joe Jr. Elder (Barbara) of Concord, Rhonda Mays (David) of Harrisonburg, Lucy Powell (Charles) of Lynchburg, and Lillian Campbell of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Mike Cantu III (Christine), Courtney Powell, Morgan Powell, Nicholas Powell and Taylor Campbell; one great-grandchild, Avery Cantu; two brothers, Jim Kiser (Mary) of Manassas, and Larry Kiser (Pam) of Winchester; two sisters, Merita Parks (David) of Aldie, and Zelma Dorman (Dickie) of Dumfries; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy Kiser (Peggy), Robey Kiser, Jr.; three sisters, Jean Glennan (Frank), Stella Johnson (Tom), and Barbara Kiser (Buck).

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the dedicated staff at Centra-Oakwood Health and Rehabilitation Center of Bedford for the compassionate care provided to Juanita during her stay at the Center.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019 in Wickliffe Cemetery by James Stanley, Evangelist.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that everyone bring a balloon to celebrate Juanita’s new life with the Lord. Please write a special thought or memory on the balloon if you like and bring it to the graveside. (DO NOT release the balloons)

Memorial contributions may be made to the local food bank, homeless shelters, or veterans.
