Betty Guthrie Cook, 87, of Berryville, Virginia, died Thursday, November 22, 2018 in the Winchester Medical Center.

Betty Lou was the daughter of Marcellous French Guthrie and Lula E. McCulloch Guthrie. She attended Union Hill Baptist Church and Berryville Baptist Church. She was a seamstress for Courtland Manufacturing in Brookneal, VA.

Betty Lou Guthrie married Leslie Curtis Cook on April 13, 1956. Leslie brought five children into the marriage and they had two more. Surviving are children, Dianne, Bonnie, Kathy, Kim, Dean and Marcia; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. One of 10 siblings, she is survived by two sisters, Hallie Hendricks and Edna Mae Weadon.

In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by her son, David.

In honor of our mother, we would like to express that she was beautiful, courageous, and compassionate, and most off all gave a special kindness to everyone around her. We love you, mama, and will miss you dearly…. Until we meet again.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 A. M. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville, with Rev. Dan Stanley officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Fort Myer, VA.
