George Robert Jean, Jr.
George Robert Jean, Jr. 78, of Brookneal passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Bernice Mays Johnson Jean.
Bob was born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, December 3, 1940, son of the late George Robert Jean and Martha Virginia Harrell Jean. He was a member of Brookneal United Methodist Church, Campbell County Historical Society, former member of the Brookneal Town Council, a lay leader in his beloved church, and an avid supporter of Dixie Youth Sports. Bob was also retired from the Lynchburg City Public School System after 27 plus years of service, and the owner of Staunton River Antiques in Brookneal.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Natalie Jean Cox (Brian); two grandchildren, Emin Robert Cox, Mary Chandler Cox all of Raleigh, N.C.; a sister, Connelly Jean Menefee (Thomas); a nephew, Robert C. Menefee (Risa); and a niece, Kenley A. Menefee all of Clearwater Fla.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Brookneal Baptist Church by the Rev. Willie Guill and Trey Davis with interment to follow in Wickliffe Cemetery.
