The school year has ended but not for the WC Tennis Team, Track Team and Varsity Baseball Team. They all have advanced to the State Finals! Proud is an understatement! At the Track Team Outdoor Championships at East Rockingham High School in Elkton:

*Josh Keller placed 11th in the 300-meter hurdles (46.29)

*Jordan Young placed 14th in the long jump with (19-.25)

*Steven Dews came in 17th in the 100-meter dash with (12.22).

The Tennis Team competed at Wintergreen last week with Sabrina Dickerson advancing to the State which was held at Radford University on June 6. Some of the team traveled to Radford in support of Sabrina along with her coaches; Deborah Layne and Carol Ruggio. Sabrina competed in the Singles for the State VHSL Tennis Tournament. She didn’t bring home the trophy, but she will be a Junior next year and will have two more years to try and bring it home!

The Baseball Team traveled to Lancaster on Tuesday, June 4, to compete in the VHSL 1A Baseball Quarterfinals. The Generals were prepared to take on the Red Devils of Lancaster, but trying their best, they were no match for the opposing team. The Generals tried their best to score a run, hit after hit ended in others being struck out. Brennan Stone pitched his last game as a General along with Josh Kerr, Isaac Jennings, and Cody Cash. The final score was 5-0.

Being a small school definitely has its advantages! There is so much support from the community and parents and grandparents! We are proud of our school for representing us in such a positive way! Most of these students are on Principles List or Honor Roll! A big shout out to the parents who provide food for the teams on game days and those who work concessions. We are family and that is what family does!
