Just a few weeks ago, 15-year-old Sam Saied from Amarillo, Texas, was dealing with what everyone thought was a stubborn sinus infection.
He had been in and out of doctors’ offices for months, hoping antibiotics would clear it up, but when he went back for a follow-up on February 11, things changed in an instant.
Doctors admitted him to BSA Hospital right away and discovered cancer in his sinus cavity. To the family’s shock, it was already stage 4 rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and very aggressive form of cancer that affects soft tissues, often in children and teens.

The news got even harder fast. Within days of the diagnosis, scans showed the cancer had spread to his brain cavity and his bones.
Sam’s parents, Mark and Danielle Saied, heard the heartbreaking update that their youngest son was facing tumors in these critical areas.
Doctors started treatment immediately to slow the progression and try to shrink the tumors. Sam has already gone through a major surgery.
In that first procedure, surgeons had to remove half of his skull to stop a serious brain bleed. More surgeries and ongoing treatments are expected as the family fights this battle.
Sam is the beloved youngest of three boys. His two older brothers adore him and have stayed right by his side through every tough moment.
The whole family is now preparing for a long road ahead. They’ll need to travel back and forth to Lubbock for specialized care, which means time away from work, mounting medical bills, and a huge emotional toll on everyone.
Despite everything, Sam’s spirit shines through. Outside the hospital, he’s known as a talented soccer player who loves the game with passion.
He’s also an exceptional singer with a beautiful voice, and he’s an active member of St. Thomas Church in Amarillo, where he enjoys serving and being part of the community.
This sudden diagnosis has turned the Saied family’s world upside down, but they’re facing it with courage, faith, and the support of those around them.
Friends and loved ones have stepped up to help ease the financial burden so Mark and Danielle can focus fully on Sam’s care.
A GoFundMe has been set up to cover travel costs, lost wages, and significant medical expenses. The goal is $100,000 to give the family some breathing room during this incredibly difficult time.
If you’re able to help, donations can be made through GoFundMe. Even if you can’t donate, sharing Sam’s story can make a big difference, spreading awareness and reaching more people who might offer support or prayers.
Sam is a bright, kind, and talented young man who doesn’t deserve this fight, but he’s showing real strength every day.
His family is holding on tight, leaning on each other and their faith. Let’s keep Sam, Mark, Danielle, and his brothers in our thoughts as they navigate this challenging journey together.
