Three members of America’s so-called “most inbred” family were removed from their home in West Virginia and placed under state care, according to The Daily Mail.

Betty Whittaker confirmed that Ray, Lorene, and Timmy Whittaker were moved to alternative housing in September. The family had been living together on a deteriorating homestead that included a small four-room house with a metal extension, three trailers, and an outhouse.

“I’ve been staying at home, waiting on a phone call, but that’s all I know,” said Larry Whittaker. “They haven’t called or let me know nothing. They won’t tell us where they at.”

Ray, Lorene, and Timmy reportedly suffer from severe mental and physical challenges. Along with Betty and Larry, they gained widespread attention five years ago through a documentary that highlighted their daily struggles.

Larry blamed viral social media videos for the family members being taken away, accusing content creators of exploiting their lives for profit.

“There’s too much sh– out there, they’re watching,” he said. “People out there are making money off them (the videos), and they don’t like it; they (adult protective services) told us don’t talk to nobody.”

The removal occurred shortly after a protective court order against Larry’s daughter, Betty Jo “BJ” Whittaker Rocha—who had been staying at the home—was lifted.

Details regarding the cases of Ray, Lorene, and Timmy remain confidential.

The Whittaker family’s lineage traces back to identical twin brothers whose children married one another and went on to have 15 children.
