Darian David Atwood, sixteen, of Warsaw, Ohio, is remembered as a lively and determined young man whose presence left a strong impression on those around him.
He was born on January 6, 2010, in Zanesville, Ohio, to Jonathan C. Atwood and Haylee A. Nixon. At the time of his passing on April 20, 2026, Darian was a freshman at River View High School, where he was actively involved in both academics and athletics.
From an early age, Darian showed a strong passion for sports. He excelled in baseball, soccer, and wrestling, earning recognition as an All-Star athlete.
Coaches and teammates often noted his competitive spirit and his willingness to put in effort and dedication during practices and games. He valued teamwork and encouraged those around him, often bringing energy and positivity to the field or mat.
Outside of school and sports, Darian enjoyed spending time outdoors. He had a love for hunting and riding motorcycles, activities that allowed him to explore his surroundings and enjoy time with friends and family.
He was known for his strong will and determination, traits that shaped many aspects of his life. His faith also held an important place in his heart and guided his outlook and decisions.
Those close to Darian often described him as a young man with a great sense of humor and a naturally happy personality. He had a way of making others laugh and feel comfortable, and his presence was often described as uplifting.
Looking toward the future, he had expressed a desire to follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue a career as an Army Ranger, reflecting his admiration for discipline, strength, and service.
Family Bonds, Remembrance, and Legacy
Darian is deeply mourned by his family and loved ones. He is survived by his father, Jonathan Atwood of Warsaw, and his mother, Haylee Nixon of Warsaw.
He is also survived by his siblings, Drake Atwood and Dezlynn Atwood, both of Warsaw. His grandparents include Trecia Atwood of Coshocton, David and Beth Nixon of Warsaw, and Dave and Ann Laughlin of Coshocton.
He is further survived by several aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who were an important part of his life. He shared a close bond with his beloved dog, Creed.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Stanley Atwood, as well as his great-grandparents, Don and Nancy Nixon, and Larry Hoot Gribble. Their memory, along with Darian’s, remains an important part of the family’s history and legacy.
Friends, family, and community members have expressed their sorrow and shared heartfelt memories of Darian as a caring, energetic, and driven young man.
His involvement in school sports and his friendly personality helped him build strong connections with those around him. He will be remembered not only for his athletic talent but also for his kindness, humor, and determination.
Funeral services will be held at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, Ohio, with burial to follow at Dutch Run Cemetery near his home. Visitation will take place the evening before the service.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made to River View Athletic Boosters in honor of Darian’s passion for sports.
