Wright County is grappling with shock and grief after a woman was killed during a violent assault at Advanced Process Technologies in Cokato on Tuesday morning.
According to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting an emergency at the workplace. When they arrived, they found a female employee suffering from severe injuries at her workstation. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts by deputies and the Cokato Ambulance crew, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say the attack was carried out by a male coworker.
The suspect, identified as 40-year-old David Bruce Delong of Watkins, was taken into custody at the business without incident. Authorities have not released information about a possible motive or the relationship between Delong and the victim.
Investigators are now working to determine what led to the deadly confrontation. The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the investigation is still active and encouraged anyone with relevant information to contact law enforcement.
The identity of the victim and formal charges against Delong have not yet been released. He remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
