A 19-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries after he crashed his dirt bike in central Minnesota over the weekend.
He rode about 55 mph in the ditch along County Road 12 in Ida Township and tried to jump a driveway, but the attempt threw him from his bike, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrived and found the man “semi-responsive and in severe pain,” the sheriff’s office reported. He is expected to survive.
The sheriff’s office confirmed he wore a helmet and alcohol did not play a role in the crash.
Ida Township sits just northwest of Alexandria, Minnesota.
