A Virginia State Police trooper was injured Sunday afternoon after a crash that occurred during a pursuit on Interstate 495, according to Virginia State Police.
At about 3:47 p.m., a trooper attempted to stop a Honda Accord traveling westbound on Interstate 495 for reckless driving. The driver failed to stop, leading to a pursuit, police said in a press release.
The pursuit came to an end after the suspect’s vehicle exited at Van Dorn Street. To avoid colliding with another vehicle, the trooper terminated the pursuit, which resulted in the police vehicle leaving the roadway and striking a tree.
Trooper’s Condition and Ongoing Investigation
Police said the trooper sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Virginia State Police continue to investigate the incident to determine the full circumstances and whether any charges will be filed against the driver of the Honda Accord.
