Weather Forecast: Cloudy Monday Followed by Overnight Freezing Rain That May Create Icy Roads

After areas of patchy morning fog and a mostly cloudy Monday, freezing rain overnight could make roads slick across the region.

High temperatures are expected to reach the mid-30s, but readings hovering near freezing may cause icy conditions, particularly after sunset. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 9 p.m. Monday through noon Tuesday for much of central Minnesota.

Warmer air is expected to move in afterward, pushing temperatures into the low 40s. NEXT Weather Meteorologist Joseph Dames says Wednesday could even feel spring-like if clouds break at times.

However, nighttime conditions remain a concern, as melting snow may refreeze, leading to slick roads and walkways.

Dames also notes that another larger winter system is developing and could bring snow to eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin over the upcoming weekend.
