The incident took place around 6:54 p.m., when emergency crews from the Dorsey Fire Department and Alton Memorial Hospital EMS responded to a motor vehicle accident.
The crash left one individual with head pain, prompting immediate medical attention.
According to authorities, one of the drivers involved in the collision fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
A prompt response from local police led to the apprehension of the suspect near Fast Eddie’s in Alton after a pursuit and foot chase.
During the arrest, a second individual who attempted to flee the vehicle was also taken into custody.
