A routine traffic stop for a broken headlight turned into a major drug bust in Kitsap County over the weekend.
According to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, a 55-year-old Bremerton man was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of possessing controlled substances.
Deputies stopped the vehicle shortly after 1 a.m. on February 21 in the 10000 block of Silverdale Way after noticing a malfunctioning headlight.
Further investigation revealed that the driver’s license was suspended. During the traffic stop, a deputy observed a plastic bag in the vehicle that appeared to contain narcotics.
Officers obtained a search warrant, which led to the discovery of a significant cache of drugs.
The haul included a large amount of methamphetamine, as well as heroin, oxycodone, and fentanyl. Scales and packaging materials were also seized.
The driver was booked into the Kitsap County Jail, and the case has been referred to the Kitsap County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further action.
The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that this arrest demonstrates how routine traffic enforcement can uncover serious criminal activity, highlighting the importance of vigilance on local roads.
