The Elk Grove Police Department is actively searching for 17-year-old Samya Martin, who went missing earlier this month.
Authorities report that Samya Martin ran away from her foster home in the 6200 block of Brockenhurst Drive on February 5, 2026, at approximately 6 p.m. Since that evening, investigators have worked to locate the teenager and ensure her safe return.
Martin is originally from Oakland, California. Police have received information suggesting she may have returned to that area. Investigators believe she could be near 10th Street and Wood Street in Oakland, and they are focusing their search efforts there.
Law enforcement officials have issued a California Highway Patrol (CHP) alert to agencies throughout the Bay Area in an effort to expand the search. The alert notifies surrounding departments and encourages coordination as officers continue to track potential leads.
The Elk Grove Police Department is also urging community members to help spread the word, particularly those who have family or friends in the Oakland area. Sharing information could play a crucial role in locating Martin quickly.
Samya Martin stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds. Authorities do not know what clothing she wore when she left her foster home, which makes identification more challenging.
Police ask anyone with information about Samya Martin’s whereabouts to contact the Missing Persons Unit at (916) 478-8057 immediately. Even small details could assist investigators in bringing her home safely.
As the search continues, authorities remain hopeful that community awareness and cooperation will lead to Martin’s safe recovery.
