Brittany Rodriguez fought a whole year against her sex offender father of her daughter, Duante K Stephens, and the judge refused to release him, stating he is a threat to the victim.
She is proud of not giving up fighting for the safety of her daughter, Milani Jade, and finally got justice.
Stephens had been fighting for his release, but the judge ultimately ruled against him, citing the ongoing danger he poses to the victim. This week, that fight culminated in a Rodriguez victory.
A Cook County judge denied Stephens’ request for release, agreeing with Rodriguez’s assessment.
In an emotional Facebook post that has since gone viral, Rodriguez detailed the cathartic and painful court experience, sharing the judge’s powerful words with her followers.
JUSTICE HAS BEEN SERVED 🥳🙏🏽

I attended court yesterday & I cried so bad, this shit really REAL.. im so fucking numb 😢
The judge REFUSED to release this nigga, she said ‘he is a threat to this victim here and who knows who else he can be a threat to.’
Rodriguez fought for a whole year.
Her post expressed a complex mix of relief, lingering trauma, and profound disappointment, not just in Stephens as a partner, but as a father to their daughter, Milani Jade.
They had a beautiful daughter together that she never wanted to keep from him, but the fact was that he couldn’t get it right to be a good father. She had to move forward and accept that her baby would never know who he is or get to meet him.
Her post highlighted the long and difficult road to get to this point, referencing online attacks she endured from Stephens, his family, and friends who, she says, didn’t take the situation seriously.
Now, she feels the outcome speaks for itself.
I hope cook county teach you a lesson, to NEVER want to do what you did to me & put me through to another female, or shit simply just come out the closet gang.

While celebrating the legal victory, Rodriguez was also raw about the personal toll.
She spoke of the trauma Stephens caused, the ongoing process of healing, and the difficult conversation she will one day have with her daughter, Milani Jade.
