The sister of the late Matthew Guerra, 17-year-old Briana Guerra, has gone missing in San Antonio, Texas, and authorities have issued an Amber Alert to find her quickly.
Briana is the younger sister of Matthew Guerra, who was tragically killed in December 2023.
Matthew and his pregnant girlfriend, Savannah Soto, were found shot to death in a locked vehicle at an apartment complex in the Medical Center area the day after Christmas.
Savannah had been reported missing just before the holiday when she didn’t show up for her scheduled induction at the hospital. She was expecting a baby boy, they planned to name him Fabian.
Police believe the couple was killed during what started as a drug deal involving marijuana.
The case has drawn heavy attention, with suspects charged, including the alleged shooter and family members accused of helping hide the bodies, and the trial process has faced multiple delays.
Now, more than two years after that heartbreaking loss, the Guerra family is facing another crisis.
Briana has mental health challenges and relies on prescribed medication to manage them.
Over the weekend before her disappearance, she attended a church convention. She missed a dose of her medicine, and by Saturday evening, she began experiencing a serious mental health episode.
Her family called the police for help during the crisis. Instead of getting the support they hoped for, officers arrested Briana on a charge of assaulting a family member.
Her parents begged them not to take her in because of her condition and even offered to provide her medication right there, but she was still taken to the Bexar County Jail. She was booked around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2026.
Her father tried to bring her medication to the jail later that day, but staff told him she would likely be released soon.
Jail records show she was approved for release early Monday morning, around 3:50 a.m.
Security cameras captured her walking out of the jail just before 8 a.m. on Monday, March 2, near the 1100 block of West Commerce Street, right by the jail and close to Historic Market Square.
She hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
When she was arrested, Briana left her phone and money behind, so her family has no easy way to reach her.
She has now gone without her medication for more than 48 hours, and loved ones are deeply worried that she could be confused, disoriented, or in danger because of her ongoing mental health crisis.
Her mother has spoken out about concerns with how the jail handled the situation, saying deputies allowed her to leave on her own despite the family’s pleas.
Briana is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing about 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She has a nose piercing and a distinctive tattoo of a marigold flower with Roman numerals on her left arm.

When last seen, she was wearing a blue shirt, jean shorts, and blue Crocs (some reports mention blue glitter Crocs). She does not have a cellphone with her.
An Amber Alert is active, and the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is leading the search since she was last seen leaving their facility.
If you see Briana or have any information about where she might be, please contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office right away at 210-335-6000 or email the Missing Persons Unit at [email protected]. You can also call 911 in an emergency.
The Guerra family has already endured so much pain, and the community is rallying to help bring Briana home safe.
