The Cambridge High School varsity tennis team is grieving the loss of Sasha Dolzake, a player described by teammates and coaches as a calm and steady presence on the court and a leader off it.

The team’s official Instagram account, chsvarstennis, shared the news in an emotional post that has drawn an outpouring of support from teammates, alumni, and members of the local tennis community.

In the tribute, the team recalled Sasha as someone who had been part of the program since the previous season. Coaches and teammates wrote that he brought a quiet, easygoing energy to matches, yet carried himself as a true leader and a kind soul who made an impact well beyond his performance on the court.

A Look Back at His Playing Career

According to USTA junior team tennis records, Sasha Dolzake, of Alpharetta, Georgia, competed in multiple matches during the 2020 season. He played mixed doubles with partner Lauren Anderson for the Barrington-Nix team in the USTA Atlanta Junior Team Tennis Winter 2020 program, winning a match against opponents Frederick Dougah and Brooke Saye.

In boys’ singles play that same season, he posted wins against David Kwack and Matthew Thomas, along with losses to Aidan Ji and Aidan Park. He also competed for Crooked Creek during the summer 2020 season and took part in the 14 and Under Intermediate flight at the Southern Georgia USTA Atlanta Juniors Winter Championship, where he faced opponent Suryanarayana Ganjikunta.
