Michael Ciocca obituary

Ansonia, CT – Michael J. Ciocca, age 65, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at Griffin Hospital in Derby.

He was the devoted husband and high school sweetheart of Karen (Lindell) Ciocca, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Born on December 22, 1960, in Bridgeport, Michael was the beloved son of Jeannine (Noel) Ciocca of Middlebury and the late Americo Ciocca.

Raised in Trumbull, he graduated from Trumbull High School in 1980. He spent much of his adult life in Seymour, where he lived for thirty years before moving to Ansonia in 2018.

Michael’s life was defined by his extraordinary passion for baking and community. He was a master baker and the co-owner and operator of the former Eddy’s Bake Shop on Main Street in Ansonia for three decades.

For Michael, the bakery was more than a place of work; it was a gathering space where neighbors became friends, conversations flowed freely, and sweet treats brought joy to all who visited.

He also owned the former Family Bake Shop in Monroe and continued to share his talents as a specialty baker at ShopRite in Milford until his passing.

Family was at the heart of Michael’s life. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, especially during family picnics and backyard barbecues.

He was a proud and devoted father to his son, Michael J. Ciocca Jr. of Naugatuck, and his daughters, Gabriella L. Ciocca (Vincent Carrera) and Rachael A. Ciocca (Noah Butler), both of Naugatuck.

Michael’s love and dedication extended to his siblings, including his twin brother Paul Ciocca (Jara) of Seymour, brother Antonio Ciocca (Lori) of Middlebury, and sisters Lisa Pettine of Derby, Gina Hughes (Tom) of Estero, Florida, and Tina Wills (William) of Naugatuck.

His family also included his cherished canine companion Rocky and grand-pups Paisley and Apollo, along with numerous nieces and nephews who brought him endless joy.

Outside of the kitchen, Michael found happiness in simple pleasures. He enjoyed tending to his garden, nurturing his tomatoes and fig trees with meticulous care, and spending relaxing days at the Outer Banks in North Carolina.

Travel also held a special place in his heart, and he delighted in exploring the beauty and culture of Italy on a memorable trip the year before his passing.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Michael was an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins and never missed an opportunity to share his passion for the team with family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to honor Michael’s life and pay their respects on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Spinelli-Ricciuti Funeral Home, 62 Beaver Street, Ansonia.
