Charles Douglas “Doug” Bibler, 77, passed away peacefully at his home on March 27, 2026. He was born on August 6, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio, to Charles and Dorothy (Davis) Bibler.

Doug graduated from Whetstone High School in 1966 and later attended Rio Grande College, where he earned a degree in education before continuing his studies at the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.

Life and Career

Doug devoted his life to the funeral service profession, working in the Columbus and Canton areas before moving to Ashtabula County, where he continued his career at Don Childs Funeral Home and later RMI.

After retirement, he remained active in the field and continued serving families through Walker Funeral Home in Geneva, Ohio. He was known for his strong work ethic, often working long days and weekends with dedication and pride.

His commitment to supporting grieving families earned him deep respect throughout the community.

In addition to his professional career, Doug was an active member of Orion Lodge #353, where he served as past master.

He was also a member of Rising Sun Lodge #22 and the Scottish Rite. Outside of his professional and fraternal commitments, he enjoyed coaching youth baseball in Ashtabula Little League and YMCA programs, where he dedicated time to mentoring young athletes and supporting local families.

Doug also enjoyed spending time outdoors and with friends and family. He liked golfing, bowling, and following Cleveland professional sports teams as well as the Ohio State Buckeyes.

His humor, kindness, and occasional sarcasm made him a memorable presence to those who knew him.

Family and Legacy

On August 8, 1970, Doug married Cynthia Amidon, and together they shared more than five decades of marriage built on love, commitment, and family. They created a home filled with laughter, support, and cherished memories.

Doug was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who took great pride in his family and their accomplishments.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his children, Stacy (Ed) Harryman and Eric (Lindsay) Bibler; his grandchildren, Macie Workman, Raegan Bibler, Grayson Bibler, and Jenna (William Brown) Beaver; and his great-grandchildren, Jackson, Olympia, and Sophia. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Cheryl Davis.

Doug will be remembered as a man of integrity, dedication, and compassion. He worked tirelessly throughout his life to care for others, both in his profession and in his community.

His influence extended beyond his work, touching the lives of young athletes, fellow lodge members, and many families he served during their most difficult moments.

Above all, Doug’s greatest pride was his family. His love, guidance, and steady presence shaped the lives of those closest to him. His memory will continue to live on through them and through the many lives he impacted over the years.
