Estancia, NM — The town of Estancia is mourning the loss of longtime resident William Romero, who passed away peacefully at his home on January 20, 2026, at the age of 90.
His passing marks the end of a life deeply rooted in family, faith, and community.
Romero was born on May 16, 1935, in Palma, New Mexico, to Liberato and Rosario Romero. He grew up in a large family, surrounded by siblings and traditions that shaped his values.

He shared nearly 60 years of marriage with his wife, Pauline Padilla Romero, a partnership that stood as a testament to love and commitment.

The day began with a viewing at 9:00 a.m., followed by a rosary and mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial took place at Estancia Catholic Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
Pallbearers included Ocello Morales, Ronald Reynolds, Anthony Reynolds, Matthew Burns, Justen Gore, and Leedro Romero, each honored to carry him to his final resting place.
