Boy Suffers Suspected Broken Wrist in Playground Attack on Regent’s Park Estate

A young boy was left with a suspected broken wrist after being attacked at the wooden play park on the Regent’s Park estate in Calne, according to a post shared on the Shout Out Calne community Facebook page.

The mother of the victim described how her son was attacked primarily by a 12-year-old boy described as large, wearing a black T-shirt, and with dark hair.

The attackers also attempted to steal the boy’s bike during the incident, which reportedly started over a dispute at the swings.

In her post, the mother confirmed the incident had already been reported to the police and noted that a separate incident at a nearby recreation ground the same evening was believed to be connected.

Despite the distressing circumstances, the mother ended her post with a heartfelt message.

She urged parents whose children may frequent the area to sit down and speak with them about right and wrong, writing that just because someone appears weaker does not mean they are lesser, adding that kindness in the heart makes a person ten times stronger.

The post quickly drew a strong response from the local community, with many residents expressing their outrage and concern.

JC Gibbs wrote,

“Firstly I hope your boy is ok. I hope you’ve reported this to the police.”

Amy-Beth Smith commented,

“What is going on! There was an incident at the rec this evening too with police being called. Hope your boy is ok.”

Phil Redmond pointed out the serious legal implications, stating, “This is a Police matter, attempted theft and possible GBH.”

Charlotte Moody called the behaviour disgusting, saying,

“This is absolutely disgusting behaviour!!! Hope he’s dealt with properly and your boy is OK.”

Nikki Sealy echoed the community’s frustration, writing,

“Absolutely disgusting behaviour!!!! Hopefully you informed the police and this is dealt with. Hope your son makes a speedy recovery.”

Sandra Brooks urged the family not to let the matter drop, commenting,

“Don’t let him get away with it. Next time it could be worse for another child. Inform the police. I hope your son gets better soon.”

Lisa Connor suggested that footage may exist of the incident, noting,

“Hopefully there is CCTV in the area or someone may have this on their door cam.”

Danielle Elizabeth, who identified herself as a top fan of the page, reached out directly, writing,

“If the poster could message me to discuss as we are also having issues with a boy on the estate and wants to check if it’s the same one.”

Liz Meldrum offered her sympathies, saying,

“This is awful. So sorry that this has happened. Really hope your son is OK and you have reported it to the police.”

The incident has clearly shaken many in the Calne community, with residents calling for accountability and parents being urged to talk openly with their children about respect and behaviour toward others. Police have been informed, and investigations are understood to be ongoing.
