A serious accident occurred near Elgin, Oklahoma, when an Elgin Public Schools bus carrying 38 elementary and middle school students was rear-ended by a semi-truck auto hauler.
The impact forced the bus into a cable barrier, which became lodged under its axle.
Fourteen individuals were injured in the crash, with three sustaining major injuries.
Two students were airlifted to hospitals, while another was transported by ambulance.
Despite the severity of the collision and the visible damage to both vehicles, no fatalities were reported as of the evening update.
Traffic flow was eventually restored in both directions, though significant backups remained in the area.
In response to the tragedy, the Cache Police Department issued a heartfelt statement offering thoughts and prayers to the families, students, and first responders involved.
They emphasized their solidarity with those affected, assuring families that the department stands with them in prayer for strength, comfort, and healing in the days ahead.
The department also praised the dedication and professionalism of the emergency crews, noting that incidents involving children are especially difficult and commending the swift, coordinated response and compassionate care provided at the scene.
