Chase Robert Hartung, 16, of Brentwood, Tennessee, passed away on April 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 26, 2010, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

At the age of eight, he moved with his family to Tennessee, where he quickly adapted to a new environment, formed close friendships, and built many meaningful memories.

Chase faced a courageous four-year battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma. Throughout his illness, he was known for his strength, resilience, and quiet bravery.

Even during difficult treatments and setbacks, he continued to show determination and an unwavering spirit.

He had a deep love for sports, especially football, and was proud to play for the Brentwood Blaze. Being part of the team brought him joy and lasting friendships. Outside of sports, Chase treasured time with his family above all else.

He enjoyed watching movies with his sister Addy, trading Pokémon cards with Reese, and spending time with his younger brother Crosley, often going out of his way to make him smile with small surprises and gifts.

Chase also enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He liked Skyline Chili, Star Wars, camping trips, and boating with family and friends. Those who knew him describe him as playful and witty, someone who could lighten any moment with his humor and personality.

He is preceded in death by his cousin, Julia Hartung. He is survived by his parents, Justin and Cindy Hartung; his siblings Addy, Reese, and Crosley Hartung; his paternal grandparents Mike and Teri Hartung; his maternal grandparents Bill and Colleen Troehler; his dog Lily; and many extended family members and friends who cared deeply for him.

His family has shared that although their hearts are broken, they find comfort in their faith and the belief that Chase is now at peace, free from illness, and in heaven.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brentwood, Tennessee. Burial will follow at Williamson Memorial Gardens. Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 23, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church.

Instead of flowers, donations may be made to Hey! I’m Here for You, Pediatric Oncology at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, and Art Helps Cancer.

Chase will be remembered for his courage, kindness, and the love he shared with those around him. His impact on his family, friends, teammates, and community will continue to be felt, and his memory will remain a source of strength and inspiration for those who knew him.
