A late-night collision near the intersection of Lyon Avenue and Devonshire Avenue in Hemet sent one woman to the hospital and ended with a driver in custody, as police warn residents about the dangers of impaired driving.
According to the Hemet Police Department, officers responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash believed to involve a suspected DUI. Crews from the Hemet Fire Department and American Medical Response (AMR) also arrived at the scene to assist.
When first responders reached the intersection, they found two heavily damaged vehicles blocking portions of the roadway.
Paramedics evaluated a female patient at the scene before transporting her to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Authorities have not released details about her current condition.
After conducting an on-scene investigation, officers determined that one of the drivers showed signs of impairment. Police arrested the suspected DUI driver at the scene. Officials have not yet released the identity of the individual pending further investigation.
The crash remains under active investigation as authorities work to determine the full circumstances leading up to the collision.
