Dunseith, ND: Woman’s Facebook Post Alleges Casino Security Guard Mishandled 15-Year-Old Girl During July 4th Incident

A Facebook post from a Dunseith, ND, area woman named Clarissa Poitra is drawing attention online after she described what she says was an altercation between two teenage girls at a casino fireworks event on the 4th of July, followed by an alleged mishandling of one of the girls by a male security guard. The claims have not been independently verified.

What The Post Describes

According to Poitra’s account, the incident took place after attendees were dismissed from a powwow and gathered for a fireworks display at the casino. She wrote that two teenage girls were arguing, and that one of them tried to walk away and said she did not want to fight. Poitra said the other girl then grabbed her by the hair, prompting her to defend herself.

Poitra alleged that a male security guard then intervened and that in the process the 15-year-old girl’s shirt was lifted, momentarily exposing her.

She said the girl asked the guard not to touch her, and that the guard held her arms while allegedly directing a racial comment at her regarding her being partly Black. Poitra said the girl who initiated the physical contact was allowed to leave the area.

Poitra also wrote that a teenage boy who was not part of her group intervened to help the girl, and that security later told Poitra she and her group, including the boy, were being asked to leave. She said she clarified to security that she had not brought the boy with her.

Poitra said she personally knows the girl involved and described her as having handled the situation with maturity. She encouraged the girl not to let the incident affect how she sees herself.

Community Reaction On Facebook

Facebook, Clifford Jr Benedict Norquay commented that Poitra described the situation clearly, even though he was not present for it.

Valerie Kay asked whether anyone had recorded a video of the incident and separately suggested that the girl or her family report the matter to casino management or the head of security.

Laurie Davis commented that the situation should be reported to the casino’s manager and head of security, adding that professional conduct is expected from security staff.

Tommy Oshkiipiness commented that the situation could warrant disciplinary action as well as assault and racial slander allegations.

Shannon Belgarde commented that she hoped the situation had been reported.

At this time, the casino involved has not been publicly named in the post, and there has been no official statement from casino management or security regarding the claims. NewsBreak has not independently confirmed the details described in the original post.
