Fact Check: RHOA Alum Kenya Moore Avoids Jail Time in Heated Salon Legal Battle

Kenya Moore Arrested

Kenya Moore, an American television personality famous for her appearance on the reality series The Real Housewives of Atlanta, wasn’t arrested.

The judge ordered her production company, Moore Vision Media, to pay $43,988 to her landlord by the end of February 2026.

Kenya Moore is a busy American entertainer and businesswoman.

She first became famous in 1993 when she won the Miss USA pageant, making history as only the second African American woman to hold the title. After her pageant win, she moved into acting.

She appeared in popular movies like Waiting to Exhale and Deliver Us from Eva, or in TV shows such as Girlfriends and The Steve Harvey Show.

However, Moore is best known for her role on The Real Housewives of Atlanta to a massive global audience. She was a main cast member on the hit reality show from 2012 to 2025, where her quick wit and memorable moments made her a fan favorite.

Outside of acting, she is also an author and entrepreneur.

She has competed on other reality competitions, including The Celebrity Apprentice, Dancing with the Stars, and Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. She remains a prominent figure in entertainment, celebrated for her beauty, confidence, and successful career.

Kenya Moore NOT Arrested Despite Court Battle Over Hair Salon Rent

False reports circulated online this week claiming former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kenya Moore had been arrested, but the reality is far less dramatic.

She is involved in a civil dispute with the landlord of her Atlanta hair spa, which opened in June 2024 following the launch of her hair care product line.

In February 2026, a judge ordered Moore’s production company, Moore Vision Media, to pay $87,976 in unpaid rent and utilities or vacate the property.

She has not been arrested, faces no criminal charges, and is not in custody. The confusion stemmed from the court judgment itself, which some readers misinterpreted as criminal charges.

The legal battle began in October 2025 when landlord Northland Chamblee LLC sued her company, claiming rent payments stopped in December 2024, just six months after the salon’s grand opening.

Moore addressed the situation on Instagram, disputing claims she’s behind on rent.

The reports about me being behind on rent are false
As I have stated before, my company is in an active lawsuit against my salon landlord for failing to pay nearly $80,000 in tenant improvement allowance OWED TO ME.

According to Moore, she invested over $300,000 of her own money to build out the salon in a commercial space that started as an empty “white box.”

Under her lease agreement, the landlord was supposed to reimburse a portion through a tenant improvement allowance, but the reimbursement never arrived. When the landlord failed to reimburse contractual expenses, she withheld rent in an effort to reach a fair settlement.

Court documents show the judge ordered Moore Vision Media to pay $43,988 by the end of February 2026.

Moore has consistently denied rumors she’s behind on rent, maintaining this is a contract dispute, not a financial failure.
