Matthew David Jones passed away unexpectedly on February 27, 2026, in Fort Wayne at just 21 years old after a tragic car accident.
Born on December 13, 2004, to Jeff and Susan Jones, Matthew grew into a vibrant and driven young man who inspired those around him.
Friends and family remember him for his infectious personality, strong work ethic, and relentless determination to become the best version of himself. He brought energy and positivity into every room, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met.
At the time of his death, Matthew worked in the parts department at Kenworth of Fort Wayne/Palmer Trucks. His colleagues valued his dedication and commitment to excellence.
Beyond his professional life, Matthew played an integral role in the A. Rae & J. fitness community, where he served as an interim coach and trainer. He motivated members with his encouragement, discipline, and passion for health and strength.
Matthew embraced life fully. He loved his weekly jiu jitsu rolls, constantly pushing himself to improve on the mat.
He also found joy in building intricate Star Wars Lego sets, a hobby that reflected both his creativity and patience. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his many friends and close-knit family members.
Matthew leaves behind his loving parents, Jeff and Susan Jones of Fort Wayne; his siblings, Sophia Jorris (Nathan), Samuel Jones (Allison), and Abigail DeAnda (Alejandro); and his beloved nieces and nephews, Penny, Charlie, Elsie, Brooks, River, and Sebastian. He also leaves his grandfather, Larry Faulkenberg of Bristow, Indiana, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will forever hold his memory close.
He now reunites in eternal rest with his grandparents, Charles Austill, Kay Austill, David Jones, and Millie Jones-Faulkenberg, as well as his uncle Steve Jones, who preceded him in death.
Family, friends, and community members will gather to honor Matthew’s life on Friday, March 6, 2026, at First Assembly of God, located at 1400 West Washington Center Road in Fort Wayne. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:45 p.m. A private graveside service will take place at Concordia Cemetery Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial donations to St. John Chrysostom Antiochian Orthodox Church, reflecting Matthew’s faith and the values he carried throughout his life.
