Virginia State Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that injured four people Friday afternoon on Interstate 264 westbound near Independence Boulevard.
Around 3:01 p.m. on Dec. 5, a Chevy Trailblazer lost control while coming off the entrance ramp from North Independence Boulevard, triggering a chain-reaction collision, according to State Police. Two vehicles caught fire, and four people sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.
State Police previously confirmed that five vehicles were involved.
The crash shut down all westbound lanes of I-264. Live traffic cameras showed a significant emergency response at the scene.
10 On Your Side received photos and video from a viewer stuck behind the crash.
At about 4 p.m., traffic had backed up roughly four miles.
All westbound lanes and the west entrance ramp later reopened.
The crash remains under investigation.
