Gabriel Joseph Zettler, 27, of Walkerton, Ontario, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Walkerton following a tragic motor vehicle accident.
His unexpected passing has left his family, friends, and community deeply saddened as they remember a young man known for his kindness, faith, and gentle spirit.
Born on July 6, 1998, Gabriel was the beloved son of Richard and Joan Zettler, née Diemert. He grew up in a large and close-knit family and was one of thirteen siblings.
He is survived by his parents, his brothers and sisters, and many extended family members, including seven brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as twenty-eight nieces and nephews who adored him.
Gabriel’s siblings and their families include Jocelyn and Paul Kieffer and their children, Anthony, Faustina, Jerome, Sebastian, Xavier, Paschal, and Therese. Candace and Nicholas Schiestel and their children, Maria, Luke, and Rita.
Tiffany and Adam Solomon and their children, Liam, Ezra, and Damien. Mathias and Heather Zettler and their children, Lincoln, Isaac, Simon, Denzel, and Arlo.
Solomon Zettler, Frances, and their son Daniel. Zachary Zettler and Jeanette and their children, Zellie, Edwin, Theo, Benedict, Cedric, and Baby.
He is also survived by Katrina Zettler, Leonard Zettler, and Danielle Van Nes and their children Roy, Michael, and Leo, Obadiah Zettler and Juliana Smith, Malachi Zettler, Dimitri Zettler, and Benetta Van Nes, and Raphael Zettler.
He is lovingly remembered by his grandparents, Edna Zettler and Roy and Agnes Diemert, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his infant brother Abraham in 1995 and his grandfather Leonard Zettler Sr. in 2018.
Gabriel was remembered by those who knew him as a quiet, steady, and kind-hearted young man. He was deeply devoted to his family and was especially cherished by his nieces and nephews, who gravitated toward him naturally.
He enjoyed spending time with children, often engaging in simple activities such as playing with blocks, games, or tractors. His family described him as patient, loving, and always willing to meet others at their level.
He had a strong interest in farming and a lifelong love for tractors, which was reflected in his die-cast collection.
Those close to him often spoke of his gentle smile and his willingness to help others whenever he could. Gabriel was known for his friendliness, acceptance of others, and his quiet but meaningful presence in the lives of those around him.
Faith played an important role in Gabriel’s life. He was described as a man of deep belief who lived with purpose and hope.
His family shared that he carried a strong sense of spiritual devotion and believed in living a life directed toward heaven. His kindness, laughter, and loyalty will be remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation for Gabriel will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon and again from 7:00 to 9:00 in the evening at Cameron Funeral Home in Walkerton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 11:00 in the morning at Immaculate Conception Church in Formosa. A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Walkerton.
He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by his family and community.
