GoFundMe Launched for Chapel Hill Mother of Two Naomi Aguado After Sudden Death Leaves Family With Funeral Costs

The small city of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is grieving the loss of Naomi Aguado, a young mother, devoted wife-to-be, and UNC Charlotte student whose passing has sent shockwaves through her family, church community, and everyone fortunate enough to have crossed her path.

Within hours of a memorial fundraiser being posted online, more than 151 people had already opened their hearts and wallets to support the family she left behind.

Naomi was a graduate of Northwood High School who went on to pursue her education at UNC Charlotte in 2022. She was engaged to Eduardo Martinez since March 2025 and was raising two young children at the time of her death.

By every account from people who knew her personally, she was not simply a good person. She was the kind of person who made everyone around her feel as if they mattered.

A former teacher, Cameron Vernon, shared the GoFundMe link on Facebook and asked the community to keep Naomi and her family in their thoughts, specifically noting that she had two little babies who are now without their mother.

Friend Jasmine Crump also posted about her passing, sharing an old video and calling Naomi a beautiful soul who was just as lovely on the inside as she appeared on the outside.

The Woman Behind the Grief

Family member Marcela Mata, who organized the fundraiser, described Naomi in terms that paint a picture of someone rare.

She was the person people called when life got heavy. Whether someone needed advice, a prayer, or just a warm presence to sit beside them through a hard moment, Naomi was there. She listened without judgment, gave without conditions, and loved without keeping score.

Her faith was not performative. According to those closest to her, it was the engine behind everything she did. She served her church community actively, put others before herself daily, and carried herself with a quiet grace that left a lasting impression on nearly everyone she encountered.

Her family wrote that many people called her a saint sent from above, and that the way she lived made that description feel earned rather than exaggerated.

The loss has hit her family at one of the hardest possible times. On top of the grief of losing her, they are now facing the financial pressure of unexpected funeral and memorial costs. The GoFundMe campaign set a goal of $14,000 and has already surpassed $11,500, a testament to just how wide her circle of love stretched. Donations have come from all directions, with top contributions reaching as high as $300.

Her family is asking for continued prayers alongside financial support, saying that every dollar donated will go directly toward giving Naomi the dignified and loving farewell she deserves. They also want the world to know that her legacy of kindness, service, and unshakeable faith will never fade, no matter how great the silence she has left behind.
