Honea Path, South Carolina — A man was arrested following a drug investigation and search warrant execution on Williams Street, where authorities recovered methamphetamine, fentanyl, and a firearm while also discovering evidence of drug activity in areas accessible to a toddler living inside the residence.
Law enforcement officers from the Honea Path Police Department carried out a search warrant on Thursday morning, February 26, 2026, at a home located on Williams Street after conducting a narcotics trafficking investigation.
During the operation, investigators reported finding multiple illegal substances, including methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Authorities also seized a firearm, drug paraphernalia, an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, and additional evidence consistent with drug distribution activities.
The arrest has drawn attention because fentanyl is considered a highly dangerous synthetic opioid. Law enforcement officials emphasized the risk posed by the drug’s presence inside a household where a child was present. Investigators said drug-related items were found in common living areas that a toddler could access, raising serious child safety concerns.
According to police reports, Jonathan Rodriguez Watson was arrested and faces multiple felony charges. These include trafficking methamphetamine as a third or subsequent offense, trafficking fentanyl as a second or subsequent offense, distribution of a controlled substance near a school, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Watson was also charged with unlawful conduct toward a child.
Officials said Watson is being held at the Anderson County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing. Authorities have not released further details regarding his prior criminal history or the circumstances that led investigators to the Williams Street residence.
The presence of narcotics and a weapon in a home where a young child had access triggered a referral to child welfare authorities. The South Carolina Department of Social Services has launched an independent investigation to assess the child’s safety and living conditions.
