Jackson, Georgia Loses Beloved School Leader Brent Lowe, Husband and Father Who Put Kids Above Everything

The Butts County School System lost one of its most beloved figures this week with the passing of Superintendent Brent Lowe.

The news sent shockwaves through Jackson, Georgia, where Lowe had spent the past three years building relationships, expanding opportunities for students, and earning the trust of nearly everyone he encountered.

Board Chair Kelly Strickland-King broke the news on behalf of the Butts County Board of Education, calling it one of those days that feels like a really long nightmare. She shared that Lowe passed in the early morning hours, leaving behind his wife Brandi, three children, and a community that had grown to love him deeply.

A photo she posted alongside her statement had been taken just days before his death, a reminder of how unexpectedly life can change.

Lowe officially joined the Butts County School System on May 1, 2022. What made him stand out was not just his administrative skill but the way he carried himself with every person he met. Teachers, coaches, parents, and students all describe the same man. Someone who listened.

Someone who followed through. Someone who walked into any room and made people feel like they were the most important person there.

Allen Clark, who serves as Head Football Coach at Jackson High School, said Lowe was one of the main reasons he took the job.

Clark described him as the best boss he ever had and pointed to his integrity as the quality that set him apart from anyone else he had worked for. Lowe always said what he meant and did what he said, and to those who worked under him, that was everything. Clark and others left behind have pledged to carry forward the standard Lowe established.

A Vision That Will Outlast His Time in the Role

One of Lowe’s proudest accomplishments was building a stronger connection between Butts County Schools and Southern Crescent Technical College. Under his leadership, the two institutions grew their dual enrollment program at the Butts County Center, giving high school students direct access to training in Welding, Mechatronics, and Robotics.

These were not just elective courses. They were pathways to real careers, and Lowe pushed for them because he believed every student deserved a future with options.

Southern Crescent Technical College honored him in a public statement, praising his commitment to workforce development and the lasting impact his partnership will continue to have on students throughout the region.

The response across the community has been overwhelming. Social media pages flooded with messages from people who crossed paths with Lowe and walked away better for it. Coaches, educators, former students, and neighbors all sharing a version of the same story about a man who led with his heart.

Strickland-King closed her statement by saying the things Lowe helped build in Butts County will endure. Those who knew him best believe that without question.

He is survived by his wife Brandi and their three children.
