Jerseyville, IL: Teen Racer Logan Frye, 15, Dies From Injuries in ATV Accident

BENTON, IL. A 15 year old boy from the Jerseyville area has died following injuries sustained in an ATV accident, leaving his family and community grieving the loss of a young man remembered for his fearless spirit and generous heart.

Logan Alexander Frye passed away at 3:51 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was born February 25, 2011, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, and was the son of Bradly and Lisa Frye.

Those who knew Logan described him as determined and full of life, a young man who threw himself completely into every pursuit. He began hunting at age three alongside his grandfather and took his first deer that same season, continuing the tradition each year after. He also enjoyed fishing, target shooting, and squirrel hunting, and was known for handling firearms with unusual care and knowledge for his age.

Logan’s love of speed and machines defined much of his childhood. He rode four wheelers, went mudding, played paintball, and worked on cars and ATVs alongside his father and brother. During the 2026 season, he competed on the AMA racing circuit, where he built close friendships with teammates who became like family to him.

Homeschooled throughout his education, Logan was a strong student who earned excellent grades while also teaching himself carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, and basic electrical work. He hoped to one day join the military and become an engineer, blending his patriotism with his natural talent for building and problem solving.

Family Says Logan’s Character Left a Lasting Impression on Everyone He Met

Beyond his accomplishments, family and friends say Logan will be remembered most for his character. He was known for his manners, his respect for others, and his habit of quietly helping anyone who needed it.

He shared an especially close bond with his father, often described as his best friend, and was affectionately called “Bubbie” by his mother. He is also remembered fondly by his siblings, Abigail, Alivia, Ethan, and Juliana, with Logan serving as a protective older brother to his youngest sister.

Logan is survived by his parents, his four siblings, his grandparents, two nephews, his godparents, and a wide circle of extended family and friends.

A visitation was held Friday, July 3, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, followed by funeral services that evening. The family has asked that memorial donations be directed toward a plaque honoring Logan’s memory.

In a message posted online, Logan’s father thanked the community for its outpouring of support, saying the kindness shown to his family has helped ease an unimaginable loss.
