The Vietnamese American community and friends across the country are coming together to support the family of Harvie DoanLe, a 6-year-old boy who passed away following a tragic accident.
A GoFundMe campaign created by Tami Farber has already raised more than $13,300 of its $22,000 goal, with 174 donors contributing in just a short time since the fundraiser went live.
Harvie was described by those who loved him as a child full of warmth, joy, and a spirit that lit up every room he entered.
In just six short years, he left a mark on the hearts of family members, neighbors, and community friends who say his playful nature and bright smile were impossible to forget. His passing has left a deep wound in the lives of all who knew him.
The fundraiser was shared widely through the Vietnamese American Democrats and Friends Facebook group, where community member Mina Nguyen urged followers to donate and spread the word in support of Harvie’s mother, Mary Parker, who is described as facing the most difficult moment of her life.
The outpouring of response from the community has been immediate and heartfelt, with donors leaving messages of love and solidarity alongside their contributions.
Organizer Tami Farber, based in Lafayette, Colorado, launched the campaign to help offset the financial burden of funeral and memorial costs that can often catch grieving families off guard at the worst possible time.
Funeral expenses in the United States can easily run into the tens of thousands of dollars, and families dealing with sudden loss rarely have the time or emotional capacity to plan for those costs. The goal of the campaign is to lift some of that weight so the family can focus entirely on healing and honoring Harvie’s life.
Among the donations, contributions have ranged from $50 to $1,000, with Maroc George giving the top donation of $1,000.
Donors like Andra Maris, Carlin Quinn, Kate Kemp, Jennifer Jussel, Cathleen Zink, Laura Kramer, and Laura Shmishkiss are among the growing list of people who have stepped up. Each dollar raised brings the family one step closer to covering the costs of giving Harvie a proper farewell.
How You Can Help
For those who knew Harvie or simply want to show support for a grieving family, the GoFundMe campaign remains active and open to donations of any size.
Farber and the family are also encouraging people who cannot donate financially to share the link so it can reach more potential donors. Every share expands the circle of support and keeps awareness alive for a family that needs the community right now more than ever.
The fundraiser can be found by searching “Honoring Harvie DoanLe’s Bright Spirit” on GoFundMe. The family asks that those who contribute keep Harvie’s memory alive by sharing his story with kindness and love.
Harvie DoanLe may have only been six years old, but the love being poured out in his name is proof that his short life mattered deeply to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest easy, little one.
