The community of Livonia is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Tiberius “Ty” Hugh Fries, a young boy whose life, though brief, left a lasting and meaningful impact on everyone who knew him. Ty passed away on March 11, 2026, at just 9 years old.
Born on January 22, 2017, in Ann Arbor, he was the beloved son of Joshua Fries and Terrin Fries.
Those who knew Ty describe him as a child who carried a rare and remarkable spirit. He was often said to be wise beyond his years, someone who understood people in a way that felt far deeper than his age would suggest.
Ty took pride in being a “good boy,” a simple phrase that reflected a much larger truth about his character. He genuinely wanted to make life better for those around him, and he did so in ways both big and small.
His bright smile and joyful laughter became a source of comfort and happiness to many. Friends and family recall how his giggles could instantly lift the mood of any room. Ty had a natural ability to connect with others.
Whether meeting someone for the first time or spending time with close friends, he made people feel seen, valued, and understood. His attentiveness and curiosity about others made his relationships feel special and genuine.
Ty’s involvement with the Miracle League of Plymouth highlighted another important part of his life. As an active participant in both bowling and baseball, he embraced every moment on the lanes and the field.
He was known as a great bowler and a natural baseball player, but more importantly, he brought enthusiasm and joy to every game. He loved superheroes and added a special energy to events like the league’s Halloween Boo Ball, where his excitement was contagious.
Beyond his activities, Ty’s presence was deeply felt by those closest to him. He was a cherished grandson to Wendi and Douglas Lint, Tom and Barbara Fries, Joe Romanowski, and Tim and Viki Farr.
His extended family and friends also held him close, each carrying their own memories of his kindness and warmth.
Community members have shared heartfelt tributes, remembering Ty as one of the most tender-hearted children they had ever known.

Visitation was held on March 18, 2026, followed by a funeral service on March 19 at Turowski Life Story Funeral Homes. Family and friends gathered to honor Ty’s life, share memories, and support one another during an incredibly difficult time.
A luncheon followed at his favorite local restaurant, where loved ones continued to celebrate the joy he brought into their lives.
Instead of flowers, the family encouraged memorial contributions to the Miracle League of Plymouth, an organization that meant so much to Ty. It stands as a fitting tribute to a boy who found happiness in connection, play, and community.
Though his time was short, Tiberius “Ty” Fries leaves behind a powerful legacy of kindness, empathy, and love. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the countless lives he touched.
