Macon, GA, Float Daze Founder Robert Jackson, 36, Killed in Crash, Wife Jackie and Sons Noah and Lucas Left Behind

The city of Macon, Georgia, is grieving the loss of one of its most recognizable and deeply loved community members. Robert Jackson, 36, died Monday morning after a fatal crash on Bass Road, leaving behind a hole in the hearts of everyone who knew him and a family that now faces an unimaginable future without him.

Robert was married to Jackie Jackson, a devoted mother who works at La Bella, a popular Mexican restaurant in downtown Macon, where she has earned the respect and affection of coworkers and regulars alike.

Together, Robert and Jackie were raising two young boys, Noah, who is 8 years old, and Lucas, who just turned 3. By every account, Robert lived for his family. Everything he did, every event he organized, every room he walked into, his love for Jackie, Noah, and Lucas was at the center of it all.

To the broader Macon community, Robert wore many hats and wore them all well. He was the man behind Float Daze, the annual celebration on the Ocmulgee River that drew families and friends together each year for a day of fun on the water.

He built that event into something people genuinely looked forward to, and his passion for water safety and community experience made him a respected voice in that space. Local news outlet 13 WMAZ described him as a water safety advocate who gave the Macon area a beloved annual tradition.

A Man Who Made Every Room Feel Warmer

Many others in Macon knew Robert as the host of Trivia Night at the Hummingbird, where he had a natural ability to turn a regular evening out into something memorable.

He had the kind of personality that made strangers feel like old friends and made regulars feel like family. People who showed up week after week did so in no small part because of the energy and warmth he brought to the room.

The reaction from the community following news of his death has been extraordinary. Thousands of comments have poured in across social media, with friends, neighbors, and even people who simply crossed paths with Robert at one of his events sharing how much he meant to them. His close friend Kevin DeLoach put it plainly, saying the loss felt like losing a brother.

Robert is survived by his wife Jackie, his sons Noah and Lucas, his parents Pete and Rebecca Jackson, and his brother Chris Jackson.

In response to the tragedy, Jackie’s sister Alexia Hackett-Calderón launched a GoFundMe campaign to help the family manage funeral costs, household expenses, and the daily needs of the two boys as they navigate life without their father.

The campaign is working toward a goal of $50,000 and has already drawn more than 135 donations from people across the community who want to show up for a family that gave so much of themselves to Macon.

Robert Jackson was 36 years old. He is already deeply missed.
