Police say a man was hospitalized Friday after another man shot him during an altercation at the Benihana restaurant in Maple Grove.
Officers responded to the 11800 block of Fountains Drive around 4:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. According to investigators, the suspected shooter and the victim knew each other and got into a dispute before shots were fired.
Both men left the restaurant separately. Police say the 33-year-old victim drove himself to a nearby hospital, where doctors treated him for a gunshot wound to the groin. The suspected shooter fled in another vehicle and has not been found.
Investigators say the shooting does not appear random, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
A woman told WCCO she was eating lunch with her 97-year-old father when the gunfire erupted.
Police continue to search for the suspect. Anyone with information is urged to call the Maple Grove Police Department at 763-494-6100.
