Mark A. Soletske obituary

Mark Anthony Soletske, 68, passed away on April 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by devotion to family, community spirit, and a love for the outdoors that touched many lives.

Born on March 27, 1958, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, he was the fourth child of Ronald and Gerda Soletske. He grew up surrounded by siblings and the values of hard work and connection that would shape the rest of his life.

A graduate of Southwest High School, Mark carried those early lessons with him into every role he would later take on.

While working at Coleman Products, Mark met Sheila, the woman who would become his lifelong partner and greatest love. They were married on October 18, 1986, beginning a journey marked by shared dedication and deep affection.

Together they built a family, welcoming their daughter Katie in 1988 and their son Derek in 1990.

Mark made the meaningful decision to step away from his job at K and K Warehouse to focus on raising his children, a choice that reflected his priorities and the importance he placed on being present for his family.

Mark’s involvement extended far beyond his own household. He became a familiar and respected figure in local youth sports, coaching teams and encouraging young athletes with enthusiasm and patience.

His leadership as Booster Club President for Marinette Schools demonstrated his commitment to supporting opportunities for others.

Even in smaller roles, such as working as a study hall monitor at Marinette High School, he made a lasting impression through his approachable nature and steady presence.

Passion for Fishing and Lasting Memories

Mark’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to own and operate Brookside Variety in Mountain, Wisconsin, before expanding his ventures with Mighty Fine Bait and Sport in Lakewood. These businesses were more than places of commerce.

They were gathering spots where stories were shared, advice was freely given, and friendships were formed. Known for his welcoming personality, Mark had a way of making everyone feel at home the moment they walked through the door.

His passion for fishing became another defining part of his life. Mark played a significant role in the regional fishing community, running NEW Bass and Walleye, one of the largest fishing circuits in the Midwest.

Whether he was organizing events or offering tips, he shared his knowledge generously and took genuine joy in helping others succeed on the water.

Those who knew Mark will remember his unmistakable laugh, his sense of humor, and the warmth he brought into every room. He was known as a good cook, a loyal friend, and someone who cheered on others with wholehearted enthusiasm.

Even in difficult moments, his quick wit remained intact. His playful response to a greeting, insisting “I’m not,” became one of many small but unforgettable traits that endeared him to those around him.

Mark is survived by his daughter Katie Hoffman and her husband David, his son Derek, and his beloved grandsons Ascher and Kayce.

He is also survived by his siblings Irene Liebman, Ron, Keith, and Paul, along with extended family members including nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sheila, granddaughter Charlotte Hoffman, his parents, and his sister in law Maryann Lemerond.

His life leaves a lasting imprint on family, friends, and the wider community. Those who knew him will carry forward memories of laughter, generosity, and a man who always made time for others.
