The post, written by Chanel Olivia, has sparked widespread discussion among parents and residents about student behavior, school safety, and the responsibility of families and educators in addressing discrimination.
In her message, Olivia described an incident that reportedly took place on April 7, 2026, at the BES baseball field. She claimed her son, a fifth-grade student, was called a “black monkey” by another student during a game.
According to her post, this was not an isolated experience, as she referenced earlier incidents of racist language and behavior directed toward her child dating back to his early years in school.
Olivia wrote that her son has faced repeated racial targeting over time, including being exposed to offensive language and physical disrespect from other children.
She also expressed frustration that, in her view, other students who witnessed the incidents did not step in or report what happened to the adults on site.
Her post emphasized that she believes parents must take a more active role in teaching children respect and empathy, stating that moral education begins at home.
