Mount Holly Township Police Chief Clifford Spencer issued a public statement this week addressing an altercation that took place after the Rancocas Valley Regional High School graduation ceremony on June 12, 2026.
The incident sparked widespread discussion among local residents on social media, prompting the department to clarify what it can and cannot share while the case moves through the court system.
In his statement, Chief Spencer acknowledged that graduation night is supposed to be a celebratory occasion for students and families, and said it was unfortunate that the altercation became part of the evening.
He explained that officers responded to the scene immediately, addressed the situation, completed their investigation, and filed complaints based on the evidence collected.
“At this stage, the Police Department has completed its investigative responsibilities, and the matter is now proceeding through the proper court process,” Spencer wrote.
Limited Details Due to Ongoing Court Case
The chief noted that because the case now involves juvenile parties and medical information, the department is legally restricted in how much it can disclose to the public.
He asked residents to base their conversations on confirmed facts rather than rumors or secondhand accounts, while also reaffirming that his office remains open to questions from concerned community members.
“I understand that people will have opinions and questions when something like this occurs. That is expected,” he said. “When information can be shared legally and appropriately, we will do so.”
Spencer closed his statement by reaffirming the department’s commitment to community and school safety, even as specific details about the altercation remain limited for now.
Community Reactions Pour In
The post drew hundreds of reactions and comments from Mount Holly residents, many of them frustrated by the lack of detail but supportive of the department’s transparency.
Mike Mili thanked the department for the update, writing that the community should focus on lifting each other up rather than adding to the division.
Rita Walker said she hoped those facing charges would receive real consequences, adding, “I hope whoever needed the medical attention wasn’t injured too bad and has a speedy recovery.”
Kelly Christine praised the chief for addressing the rumors directly, saying she appreciated a department willing to respond to public chatter instead of staying silent.
Not everyone was satisfied with the limited information. Trojanowski Fam commented that the police might as well remove the comment section if they did not want speculation, while Morgan Cameron simply asked what had actually happened, reflecting confusion among residents who had not yet heard details of the incident.
Daniela Col criticized whoever was involved in the altercation, writing that graduation should be about the students and that the adults involved should be ashamed for disrupting the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Katrina Tuliano raised a more specific concern in the comments, asking about a woman reportedly seen in a video appearing to strike an elderly woman while she was on the ground, and expressing hope that the individual was not affiliated with the school.
As of now, the Mount Holly Police Department has not released additional details about the individuals involved or the specific charges filed, citing the ongoing legal process. Residents with questions have been encouraged to contact the department directly.
