246 The Main

The theatre's talent showcase will include scenes from old classics like "The Wizard of Oz" and more.

246 The Main Theater in downtown Brookneal has announced a talent showcase fundraiser that is set to take place later this month.

The event will feature 23 acts including singers, dancers, scenes from past shows and other acts by the Main Act Theatre Troupe, according to a Facebook post from the Theatre.

Shows will be held on Saturday, July 17 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, July 18 at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $15. Those who wish to purchase tickets can call the theatre.

Just months ago, the theatre released an announcement stating that it would be closing. Since then, the theatre issued several announcements regarding donations from community members, and on Memorial Day, the theatre announced that it would be hosting a talent showcase.

“Like a phoenix,” a subsequent statement reads, “we will rise up!”

246 The Main will also be holding auditions for a production of “Bye Bye Birdie” on the evening of July 19. That show is currently scheduled to take place in October.
