The Amherst County Lady Lancers came across the James River Tuesday night for a showdown against the Lady Red Devils.

The first match started with Rustburg dominating, and they never let up. Kate Hardie (15 Kills, 3 aces, 4 digs) and Eden Bigham (10 Kills, 6 Digs) provided significant firepower from the corners. Rustburg took the first match 25-13.

Meah Coles facilitated her team’s offense from the middle of the floor, racking up 2 Aces, 2 Kills, 32 Assists, 5 Digs, while leading Rustburg to a 25-16 win in the second set.

The third set looked much like the first, as Rustburg took another 25-13 win. Delaney Scharnus (1 Ace, 1 Kill, 1 Assist, 9 Digs) on the back row helped her team pull out the final win.

“We played amazing in the first set,” Scharnus said. “Our Energy was off for the 2nd and 3rd set.  We need to get the energy back for Thursday match up against EC Glass she added.”

Rustburg’s game at E.C. Glass was scheduled for 7 p.m. October 14.
