The Brookneal Lions Club is sponsoring the Lions Memory Tree Project again this year to honor individuals or businesses, or in memory of loved ones who have passed. The tree will have one bulb lit for each submission. It provides a way to give in honor or memory of someone, as 100% of proceeds go to help the needy in the form of eye glasses and/or eye exams. Proceeds also fund projects during the year to help others in and around Brookneal. Bulb sponsorship is $5 per person. Bulbs can be purchased through any Brookneal Lion, at 246 The Main Cultural Arts Theatre or Brookneal Centra Medical Office.
The tree will be on the Lions Club float in the Brookneal Christmas Parade on Thursday, December 2. Banners will flank both sides of the float with the names of those who have been remembered. Those names will also appear in a Memory Tree article in The Altavista Journal for the holiday season. A Memory Tree names banner will also be displayed in the 246 The Main in the front window until January 2.
The Lions Club extended its thanks in advance for those who support by honoring and remembering those who have been so important to them and their community. Lions motto is “We Serve” and, which is perhaps especially relevant during the holiday season.
