The Brookville Bees football team matched up against their cross-town rivals Lynchburg Christian Academy this past Friday night at LU’s Williams Stadium. The Bulldogs came away with a resounding 35-7 victory.
LCA raced out to a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter, as they would get touchdowns from running backs Gideon and Caleb Davidson. The dynamic brother duo combined to rush for 231 yards and four touchdowns in the game.
However, the Bees answerred with a drive capped off by a TD run from Tayshaun Butler to cut into the lead. The Bulldogs struck with a few seconds left in the first half as UVA quarterback-commit Davis Lane (96 yards passing, 93 rushing) connected with receiver Camden Clifton on a 21-yard TD pass to take a commanding 21-7 lead at the half.
LCA maintained their dominance in the second half on the ground while racking up 420 yards of total offense. The Davidson brothers would both add scores to put the game out of reach and keep the Bulldogs undefeated this season. Brookville was led by Butler with 98 yards rushing, while quarterback Drake McDaniel passed for 101 yards in the loss.
LCA (4-0) will travel to face Rustburg (2-1) this Friday night at 7 p.m. while Brookville (3-1) is scheduled for a bye week.
