The William Campbell Generals hit the road to take on Central Lunenburg this Friday in their Region semifinal game, ultimately falling by a score of 62-32. After an early lightning delay, the Generals jumped out to an early 12-8 lead in the first quarter. The Chargers then took control and gained a 32-18 halftime advantage. The two teams battled back and forth in the second half, but the Chargers took control down the stretch en route to the 62-32 victory. The Generals finished their season at 3-4.
“We didn’t play bad, we just didn’t play good enough to win,” William Campbell Coach Daniel Broggin said about the Generals’ performance. “Hats off to Lunenberg.”
William Campbell’s Chris Boyd finished with 3 rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. Russell Thompson also threw two touchdown passes, one to Chris Boyd and another to JaCoriyous Graves.
Broggin said he was proud of the team’s efforts this year, as they played hard and managed to win games despite injuries and other obstacles. He said he was also especially happy for the seniors on the team.
“I’m so happy those kids got to play the game that they love at least one more time,” Broggin said.
